Hi everybody,
can anybody help me: I got a MSI Motherboard (supports AGP 8x) with an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ and with a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440.
I want to play some of the new PC Games (e.g. Farcry, Doom 3, Half Life 2) but I'm sure my video card isn't good enough for these so I want to get a new one. So my question is which videocard can support my system best, cause I don't want to buy the newest one (wouldn't make any sense with an Athlon xp 2000+ :D ).
So which is the best possible videocard for me?
please help.
thanks

it all depends on how much you are willing to spend on a videocard.
9800pro 128mb= around $200
6800GT 256mb= around $420-$460
personally if you have the money...go for the 6800GT. a lot of people have been buying the gt's and overclocking them to 6800 ultra speeds and sometimes even higher. im going to buy the 6800 GT at the end of this week from www.newegg.com
BFG and leadtek both make great cards. stay away from PNY because ive been seeing a lot people having problems with their cards.good luck to you. oh yea if you are going to play future games, dont go with anything lower than the 9800pro.

I'd honestly say the GeForce 6600, to be released in 3 days for $149 (or the GT for $199). Going to be a kick-ass card for a kick-ass price. Perfect for you, since you are going to be CPU limited at the resolutions that require anything faster videocard-wise.
