I recently obtained a sony F717, and I was wondering if there was a lense or something I could get for it in order to take B&W photos. i dont know much about photography so be gentle.

on some cameras you can change the shooting mode so that it records the photo in black and white instead of colour but im unsure if you can do that on your camera.

other then that may i recommend using a program such as photoshop. you can use this program to transfer from colour - greyscale which is what im assuming you are after.

hope this helps.

Take the picture as you normally would, then later with your picture editing software you can convert it to black and white. Using a program like Photoshop will allow you much greater control in how the tones from white to black will look.

Before throwing down money on an action you might want to check out some free actions or just experiment on your own. I just can't see spending money on something like that.

My macros from this thread (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=751884) were all converted to B&W using free actions I found through google, and/or have been adjusted manually.
