hey guys, by birthday is comming up on the 13th and I was going to get a ipod mini and some other games and stuff. But then I realized that well, I have an FX5200. I can't even play Americas army at 800x600 with everything turned off without it slowing down. I figure its time I should get a 6800GT.

Now what I was really looking at was the BFG 6800GT OC, on pricewatch its $440 I believe.

Then there is the PNY 6800GT running at 350/1000 for 390.

Both have lifetime warrentys, now I was wondering if the 50 bucks extra is worth the 6800GT OC's performance or should I feel I made the right choice and get the PNY card and maybe be able to get a copy of Doom 3 to give me something to do. I don't know if either are in stock right now but even if they arent I'll wait for them to be at those prices.

Well there's compuplus which seems to have the BFG in stock for $440 + S&H. Or you could get in line @ chumbo.com with me. $399 w/ free shipping, though I paid the $5 to upgrade to overnight lol.
I'll have to call 'em up & change the shipping address from my house to my new job if it doesn't ship next week, but whatever.

Get the BFG, those guys post here pretty regularly, the tech support is awesome. Definitely worth the extra bucks.

certainly not.

the BFG card and the PNY cards are all made by the same company. BFG just changes the BIOS to O/C the core by a measly 20MHz which doesnt mean jack because we all will O/C our cards on our own anyway. my PNY GT runs quite nicely at 420/1100 which is just as good, if not better than most of the O/Cs I've seen on BFG cards.

that being that, I say get the PNY card and use the $50 saved for something else.

Okay, I looked into chumbo.com and signed up for the mailing list. I probably won't make it though in time to even get the next shipment.

that other place is selling it for 452 right now... thats too much.

I think the rest of my system should be able to handle it (maybe could use some faster RAM, but thats another thing all together.) So maybe I'll look into pre-ordering that 6800 from chumbo or the place on pricewatch.

Have you ever had experience with chumbo before?
