I am going to be out in AZ the third week of May and would like some advice for locations (or local food :D)

We'll be flying in on a Friday and can do whatever we want until Monday (thru Thursday) then my wife has to be at a conference during the days. That means I can not really get out and explore the area. We do plan on heading up the see the Grand Canyon straight from the airport. Looks like a fairly decent drive up there but should be worth it.

So, closer to Phoenix, what's there to see? Wouldn't mind doing some night astro photography. I never get to do city-scapes either so that would be cool too. Anywhere to steer clear of might be helpful as well...lol?
