ive had 3/6 sticks fail on me within less than a year of use. 3rd one was just now.

different batches/sizes.

i was thinking OCZ what do you think?

Considering we've used many 1 and 2gb kits of Corsair XMS2 DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 at our shop without a single issue I'd say you are cursed and will prob have bad luck with any brand you go with.

Tbh, you are one of a minority that has issues with specific ram so don't be one of those poeple that swears off a brand simply because of a run of bad luck unluss Corsair refuses to RMA your ram ( which is unlikely ).

Edit 1 :

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is it possible there is some contributing factor causing the modules to fail?

This thought had crossed my mind yesterday. Could be bad power circuitry on your mobo or a shitty 3.3v line on your PSU cause memory failure. That or you're using way more voltage than needed for the mem and you're frying it.

Edit 2 :

Crap, I forgot the biggest thing that leads to people thinking they have bad ram. NEVER LET THE BIOS SET THE TIMINGS FOR YOUR RAM !!!!

Manually set the timings and voltage then retry memtest. I wouldn't be supprised if there is indeed nothing wrong with your ram

Yeah from what I understand, corsair is actually supposed to be one of the best. I just bought 8gb of corsair myself. I try and stick with Gskill and Corsair personally.

From what ive seen, people have WAY more issues with OCZ and Crucial lately.

Anyways, lifetime warranty so....who cares. :p

Yeah I would say the warranty would cover those, and I haven't had much luck with OCZ (normally not working from the word go), how about some G.Skill, I haven't heard anything negative about them?

8 sticks of XMS2 in various machines. Zero failures, and the first set was from back when DDR2 cost more than DDR3 today.

You're very unlucky.

Corsair is top-notch. The XMS2 memory seems to be turning into their standard, ValueSlect-esque memory, whereas the Dominator stuff is awesome. Both are awesome, though. It would be nice if they backed off with the rebates and just had good prices, although after MIR my 4GB will be cheaper than the best-rated G.Skill kits. On the other hand, I've never had trouble with Corsair rebates, and they have a pre-registration system that makes the process a lot easier (especially if you have bad handwriting).

So RAM goes bad and you don't even give the manufacturer a chance to make good on it?

You know the warranty policy when you buy the RAM. Lifetime warranty. OCZ offers the same thing. If that's not good enough for you, then there is no RAM on the market good enough for you.

Never had a bad stick of XMS2 and I have piles of it.

Been quite happy with XMS2 in a number of systems... Did have 1 module come DOA a few months ago. Corsair RMA was painless.

I owned a pair of Coraisr back in 03 they were ok but did not overclock worth a damn. I have had very good luck with both OCZ and G-Skill memory.

My system has been running on Corsair for two years now :) never had a single issue with it. I would say you had some realy bad luck :( Give them a call they will make it right :) :) :)

Corsair RAM user for life here. Like others have said, something sounds fishy. I'm sorry you're having so many issues though.

Edit: There's a Corsair rep on the boards here, so perhaps he'll chime in and work with you on this issue.

Great job reading the thread. ;)

BAD MEM /\
Used The big C since I can remember
OC and not

On my older board had a stick go and Corsair replaced it,
on another board
mem test and BSOD said "Bad Mem"
Was running at stock numbers
dropped it from
8333
to
6332
and have had no problem?
all at stock Volts
go figure

I've used maybe a half dozen pairs in my day. I had one bad pair last year, RMA'd through newegg and the new pair worked fine. Happens to everyone now and then.

honestly, I have not had a single problem with a single stick yet. Corsair has been around for a long time, and I have been satisfied since the 486 days. I refuse to use any other.

Absolutely.

Honestly, the OP can easily get the existing sticks he has swapped out instead of going with another company. Of course, it's his or her choice, but you already have the Corsair stuff. RMA staff is very friendly and helpful. I'd give that a whirl first before doing anything else.

OCZ also makes decent stuff, but I only have purchased maybe two pairs of it, and they were for commissioned builds.

I've had the same problem - one stick of the 2GB kit of XMS2 I ordered was DOA.

My xms2 ram has been running great, plus it is some of the best looking ram I have ever seen :)

I have a bunch of Corsair XMS DDR2 and two sets of Dominators.

Not one problem, until a couple of months ago. Had 1 bad stick in a 4 GB kit of XMS.

RMA to Corsair took less than a week.

I will not use anything else. (I also have a Corsair 620 and 750W PSU and a Nautilus 500)

Corsair makes good shit.:D

Run Corsair Xms all of the time. Even sell custom builds with them in it. Not 1 problem. I have 6gb of XMS-675 right now waiting for a new Vista build.
