Apart from disabling tapping, is there a way I can avoid accidental tapping while typing something in MS Note? Its bit irritating, that while typing your palm is always on the pad and slight touch affects your typing

Yes Microsoft OneNote, I use in my MBA classes. I recently purchased HP Envy 15 TouchSmart having Windows 8 OS.

Its annoying, that while typing accidental tap repositions the carret in somewhere else in the document. It happens with MS Word too
 
I use Office 2013 on Windows 8 tablets but I'm confused as to what exactly you're talking about here. Could you give a specific example of the problem? Yes, if you tap the screen the cursor will reposition, just like using a mouse to click a position. In my experience though it has to be a deliberate tap, taping and holding allows for the screen to be scrolled. I'm guessing that maybe this is what you're talking about but like I said an example would be helpful.

When I am typing, the wrist and lower portion of the palm is always on the D-Pad. You can imagine how annoying it is that you are typing and a slight touch of wrist and palm repositions the cursor somewhere in the middle of the document. You continue typing, untill you see into the document, and realized, where you are typing
 
Oh, you're talking about the touch pad. Yeah, this is a common problem but it's really related to the pad. Not sure what kind of touch pad your machine uses, there should be some option to for palm rejection sensitivity.
 
All the touch pads Ive used will turn off or on when you double tap the upper left corner. Could be worth a try.
 
I'm very interested in this topic. I tried double tapping in the top left and it didn't disable the track pad. I'm using an ASUS X43S.
Do i need special software to do this or does windows 7 have options for this?

Our Toshiba 18.4" laptop has a button above the touchpad to disable it. I really like that feature
 
This can only be resolved by driver settings. (Windows Vista and later) If you go to Control Panel -> Hardware -> Mouse, go to the last tab on the right (varies per touchpad vendor, may not be there for crappy drivers). Do your best to search here for sensitivity and, if you're lucky, settings to specifically detect palm touches as opposed to fingers. It's sad to say, but this is one area that Apple excels in. They have by far the best touchpad drivers in the industry. The closest I've used that was pretty damn good was the Dell Latitude series. All of them that I've used are pretty good.

UPDATE: unfortunately, not all drivers support this setting. If you can't find it, you're SOL :(

I'm using an ASUS laptop X34S. The double tap in the top corner did nothing. I installed the drivers Elantech Touchpad driver and in the software found an option to automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in which is awesome but could not find any options in the software or win7 for palm rejection sensitivity.

"The double tap in the top corner did nothing." On Toshiba laptops, there's a little indicator that turns on when the touchpad is disabled. Not all laptops have this feature.
