has anyone been able to even use or see h264 encoding in CCC using the new 4XXX series gpu's?

http://ati.amd.com/technology/h264.html

using the hotfix drivers i saw the video converter, but it didn't even list h264 in anything other than crap for an IPOD? weak.

i read the articles about the CUDA based third party app that does h264 encoding on nvidia GPU's....is there really anything going on with AMD to release something similar?

the main purpose for my system is doing h264 encoding of high defintion content, and doing 1080p transcoding at 7fps on my q6600 @ 3ghz is getting pretty damn old...

looks like either someone will write an application to do GPU video transcoding with h264 so you don't need a supercomputer to transcode HD video or i'll have to spend big $$$ for a dual nehalem system...

i'm impatient!!!!!!!!! lol. :D

nevermind i see the video converter only outputs to dvd (mpeg2) and h264 for iplodes and psp.

i'm not sure about anyone else but if gpu manufacturers would focus on h264 transcoding from m2ts, mkv, etc. then i would buy more for that functionality over fps in games...do they not see the market??? wtf?
