I was all set to purchase a System from AvaDirect until I did research and read some posts on this site. Most of the negative ones I've read are within the last few years, and I'm a bit confused as to how a company with such a bad rep can be rated 'A' with the BBB, and have only 10 (closed) complaints in the last 3 years. I was wondering if anyone has any recent direct dealings with them? Maybe they've changed there ways since the posts I've read were written?... or those posts weren't representative of the company's operation???

I was thinking the same! I'm just about to buy from them tomorrow, since it seems like they have a REALLY good score on resellratings. All well, hope my experience will be good!
 
Oh boy.... this one may open a can of worms. A controverial company on [H] a while back. I think the company name even got banned for a while or something.

Anyway, I can share my own experiences. In a nutshell, I bought a rig from them years ago and it came broken (bad RAM). The replaced the RAM and I continued to have a number of issues. The resolution was sending the PC back 2 times. The second time they replaced the MOBO (at my prodding - the original PC had known issues with SATA). The PC has been great since then.

On the plus side, I ended up with a nice PC (great wire management!) and the company stood behind their product. I never had a problem with their customer service.

On the negative, the PC should have been inspected more thoroughly before it left the factory.

Would I buy from them again? Errrrrrr...... I think I would take a serious look at Maingear, to be honest.
 
There are at least 3 other companies I would price comparison with first before I bite the bullet and go with AVA Direct.

I bought my system from AVA almost three years ago and had no problems whatsoever. I ordered 4 gb of team and they put in eight. So they messed up but in a good way! My system is pretty canola with no oc'ing but it has been stable and good since arrival.

I did give these companies a serious look, but their Systems were much more than I was looking to spend (around $800 + or -). As for AvaDirect, I just couldn't do it; maybe I just scared myself out of it... so last night I ordered a PC from Ewiz.Com. They have a System Builder where you pick components from each category (Case, MOBO, etc), or you can just fill your shopping cart with parts they sell and they will assemble it at no charge (they do charge shipping). In my case there was a motherboard they sold that was not part of their System Builder, but they were nice enough to add it to the online menu so I could select it (you can save a few dollars that way). So I basically got a PC with the parts I wanted for what it would cost me to buy parts from places like NewEgg. They guarantee the parts for 30 days (they pay shipping both ways) and labor is for one year. I should have it by the end of next week... we'll see if I made a good choice or not. I'll post an update when I know more so that my experience (good or bad) may be of benefit to others.

I built a computer with them 3-4 years ago (in sig) and overall it was a positive experience. I had some BSOD errors in the beginning but customer service was helpful and it ended up being a driver conflict with vista that was resolved by a windows update. Otherwise the computer is still going strong. They had really great cable management, it was my first boutique purchase, it wasn’t an out-of-the-box gem but things have come a long way since vista =p

they have good customer service and what not but their price seems to be quite high ...
 
All three are good companies but, price and options I'd go with A if it was me looking to upgrade my rig,. Waiting for Ivy Bridge to appear. I have a good local guy for add ons switching parts just not into neat wiring. Great customer service is nice and all but, not 500 plus in price it isn't.
 
Have had my AVA direct now for 3 years 3 months and no problems since I got it. Some might recall that they installed my PS the wrong way. I have a Antec 900 and the did not put the PS fan side up. I noticed it right away, and they owned up to their mistake. I made the correction myself. No damage done.

So, yeah, there are some people with bad experiences with AVA, I'm just not one of them. I'll let the forum know if that ever changes.
