Seriously, I understand your frustrations but I am thinking AVA will have gone out of their way to fix you up this time. Too much publicity not to.

It doesn't do anyone any good, especially those who are shopping around boutiques, to not let us know the outcome of this whole saga. Unbox it, plug it in, fire it up and let us know how it runs.

It's your comp and your call, obviously, but I for one, need some closure.

Well all they found was bad ram. I don't know if that was the cause of me getting 3fps or not but I really doubt it. All they have done is test, replace the ram, rewire it. I asked them if they repaired the case reset button which was broke and never got an answer. I really don't think this will turn out well. I don't know what they are doing about the board overvolting the ram which will probably kill it again.
 
so you get 3 fps in one game, WoW, with no proof of SS, refuse to give data about other games, and claim the whole PC is a POS. You're the most rational person I've met in my life.

Yes, I've asked you for screenshots of your FPS and latency bar ingame in WoW. It's funny how you would spend money shipping it back to AVA instead of trying to post a screenshot here first so we could troubleshoot it.
 
It died 100% how was I going to post anything? What does SS mean? My hard drives will burn up if put them in this pc too long just pull off a screenshot. I couldn't even play a video without it being choppy as hell that is not normal. I'm getting rid of the thing on ebay when it comes back. I don't care if all I get is $100 out of it. Using this old pc here is bliss compared to the living hell its put me though. That is just what I want to avoid troubleshoot the pos till hell freezes over just so it works as good as a two year old pc.
 
I can understand that sentiment Schneider... Its the same exact feelings I had after my dealings with AVA... After the comp started to fail its last time and Misha refused to do more than continue to replace parts and not try something else I gave up on them ever making my computer work... I broke it all apart and pieced together another computer... Franken comp kinda bummed me out so I went ahead and bought a new HP M9450F... Talk about a nice computer at a really decent price... Pretty sure it cant be any worse than the AVAdirect fiasco.

Couldn't you have pressed print-screen, uploaded the screenshot to imageshack, and posted it here? Hard drives don't spontaneously burn up if you put an extra few kilobytes from a SS (screenshot) on them. Hard drives aren't supposed to burn up in any case unless you piss gas on them and set them on fire or if you're playing while your computer is on fire.

Yep your computer died 100% while you were walking around testing your fps in certain parts of the map. Me and misfate asked you before to post an SS of what's happening to figure out what the problem is. In your disregard you continue to cry about that single problem, with no screenshots, and absoluting not a single other game's performance.
 
To insert the voice of reason here, I've been doing this long enough that I've had two customers who have done EXACTLY what Schneider is planning on doing (not with Puget, but a previous company). In both of those particular cases, it was even worse--because we actually gave the customers brand new computers to replace the malfunctioning ones, and those also had issues. You can argue it was an environmental issue at the customer's house, but that doesn't make the customer feel any better and it's hard to troubleshoot.

Anyhoo...I get it. He's frustrated, has had a really awful experience, so try not to beat down on him too hard. I, too, would have liked to have seen some screenshots of the FPS issues, but at this point, it's in AVA's hands. I would encourage Schneider to at least boot it up when it gets back and give it a go, to be fair to the manufacturer in the event that what AVA did fixed the problem. I have seen FPS issues in WoW caused by bad memory, so it's possible that might be the solution.

Did AVA load WoW and try it on the system? I've always done that when the problem lies with specfic games. You might ask them to give it a go and see if they can replicate the issue.

It's certainly turning into one.This guy doesn't seem to be happy unless he's miserable.How are we to know where the real problem lies when he's tinkered with the thing constantly?He hasn't even gotten it back and he's declared it a failure.Is he looking for help or attention?
 
I'm not miserable atm using this old pc I would to stay that way. Like I said before I am not looking forward to getting it back and having to start this nightmare again. Total loss so far $110. Blame me for everything I should of wasted more money shipping it than trying to get it to work at least in some condition. I would of posted some pics but I was busy if you hadn't noticed trying to get the thing to actually work. I have pics they are on my data hard drive. If I try get them off it means I have put it in this pc and the last time I did that to test if they still worked after the pc died they got hot as hell from no fans in this old pcs case. Sorry but I'm not risking all my data just to get a pic now.
 
Both companies are excellent.

I just happened to go with Maingear and I couldn't be more thrilled with them from start to finish. :)

$80 +$80= $160 shipping that is why. I do have an idea of what I'm doing but not intricate repairs. I never attempted anything I was not capable of. You didn't see me take out the cpu and see if it was seated right did you? Most of what I did was changing wires which is not hard but the case buttons being wired was a bit more difficult but doable thanks to the q connector. As for adding my data hard drives I've done that before nothing difficult. If you can't figure how do something that simple then you don't ever need to own a pc.

Ava has since told me they have fixed the case buttons and are trying to get the pc stable at stock ram speeds. It seems something else is wrong with it if it can't be stable at stock 800mhz ram speeds. They are probably testing the ram at 2.1v and since this asus board is a pos even worse than evga I think its most likely fried the new ram since the thing can't do any correct voltages and overvolts everything.

Read the lower ones. Ava confirmed the ram was bad and I saw it in the bios how it could never do correct voltages. It either overvolted the ram or under if you tried to compensate for it by lowering it. From what I have looked about it on google its well known and one of the reasons it was discontinued so soon after its release. The evga board at least if you set ram to 2.1v you got 2.1v not 2.2 2.3 or some oddball voltage.
 
It's a nightmare, definitely, but you're not helping anyone, including yourself, by not trying it out when you get it back.

Seriously, just boot it up when it returns.

I feel for you dude, because if my comp was a fail out of the box, I would be highly disappointed.

Let them work it and see what they come up with. If you get a big steamy back, by all means, do with it what you will............................but let us know. ;)

I got the pos back. I told them to prewire some cables they didn't I have to do it but I'm not. I'm not even going to bother. Fuck this thing to hell where it belongs.

Sorry to hear they dropped the ball again on you man.... Sadly thats about par for the course once you start having issue with an AVA comp... Hope you can get some of your cash back from selling the comp or whatever... Good luck man.
 
I cooled down a bit after being so angry and starting rewiring it. I got my drives in and something looks ver very wrong. If anybody else has an asus maximus fromula some advise is needed. They have the ram voltage set to 2.2v 2.3v real and northbridge set to 1.51v They trying to fry the ram on me again on purpose? This ram is corsair rated at 2.1v. WTF?
 
Sounds exactly like typical AVA repair work.. Just replace the broken part and ignore the underlying cause... Thats the exact reason I gave up on them... They couldnt grasp the fact that something was causing all my failures other than the failing parts themselves. It was just bad luck and poor quality control (from the maker of the part not AVA)according to AVA.
 
So in other words you got the system back and immediately started fiddling around inside of it again.Wouldn't it have made more sense to include everything when you sent it back and have them install it? Way too many gray areas here.
 
I'm already seeing weird shit. I tried to pull up the pdf with the ram specs. This pc is well on its way to hell.

Vista 64 would be ok reinstalled. That copy I made of my xp disc with updates using nlite I made may be corrupt or damaged since you guys found the RAM bad. I made it a day or so before I shipped it using the pc. It should probably not be used. Was there anything else found wrong or just the RAM? If your cleaning up the wiring inside if possible please prewire the sata and power cables for my extra drives or at least factor that into any rewiring that is done before it is shipped back. Also was the case power reset button able to be repaired?

edit: tried burning some discs it failed big time. I had to crash it to get it to respond. Froze at 46%. The bios freezed a couple times on reboots when it got to the post part of the dvd burner so maybe its ready to die.


I'm too tired to mess with it anymore I got work tonight I need sleep. Here take a look at these. I never messed with them this is what ava set the bios at. Fry ram fry.

 
Anyway I asked ava about these problems and they told me that system was tested stable for 72hrs like this and was fine. They said that this the recommended settings for crucial ram???? Someone screwed up now didn't they.

Well man I would say that if the ram says 2.1v on it and they have it overvolted to 2.2 thats not good. Not sure it will hurt things since alot of overclockers up the voltage to get better speeds and its not a huge overvolt. I agree though it should be set to what the memory specifies UNLESS you are overclocking or wanted overclocking....

I am pretty sure it was tested for same 72 hour test time that they said they did when things werent even wired up right(or did you forget they claimed same "thorough 72hr testing" ). Meaning they probably turned it on and made sure it booted and called it done. Oh wait its already been proven by you they probably dont even do that much to test things. Pretty hard to miss the comp not even being able to turn on like it was last time. Or at least it would be if you were competent at your job.
