AV Receiver question

Hi All,

I bought a SONY AV receiver about 6 months ago:

http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/st...1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=STRDH520

The audio is great, but I don't think it is processing the video optimally for example, if I plug my HD box directly into the TV the picture seems to be a lot higher FPS. I have a plasma TV and all of my HD input say 1920x1080/60p on the tv. Is this receiver just not as high quality? Will a $500+ receiver give me better results?

Thanks

more info on the setup? what sort of TV? connection? what sort of "hd box" are you using?

Are you able to set the refresh to 59hz? That could help. Also try enabling the game mode on your TV if it has it.

You should be able to put the reciver in pass through for the video so it's not tuching it. It really shouldn't be messing with it. Not showing anything about the reciver that it should be touching the video at all. It does have an option for 24p but that should only be on for movie's might want to double check it.

When I play a blu-ray on ps3, it switches to 24p.

No game mode or hz settings on the tv menus.

I've played with all the pass-thru options it doesn't change anything.

Thanks,

Ryan

Its supposed to be 24p if you have it enabled on your PS3. Most blu rays are 1080p/24.

What settings does the HD box have for picture or the reciever. Its shouldn't be doin any video processing.

See if you can disable any upscaling from the receiver.
