Hey... I just bought the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude, and uninstalled my previous soundcard drivers.
First, for whichever reason, the creative soundcard drivers are lingering, and now I have all these broken files all over my computer from creative, as if the uninstall wasn't good enough for it to piss off..?
Also, I had USB soundcard drivers installed, uninstalled those, but they're still appearing in the add/remove section of my computer.
How could I completely remove this junk?

Now onto the Auzentech X-Fi soundcard... Where do I plug my headphone jack into? The front speaker port? or does it matter...
Also, which drivers should I install? I Downloaded the ones from the website, but they're invisible as far as customization goes... Will I still get the quality I paid for with this?
Thaaaaanks.

Can't help you with this one, perhaps try safe mode?

Install the drivers that come off the cd first (so you get all the extra applications), then install the drivers from their site over the drivers you just installed (so you have both the new drivers and applications).

Hi there,

OK, first let me say that I AM a n00b with this stuff. But I recently got a puter with Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista board and it has the c-media onboard that's somehow internally usb.

When I uninstall drivers, I don't use the device manager or the add/remove programs, I use CCleaner, then reboot and run it again under "issues". That won't get rid of everything of course, but I have found in the past that it helps.

From cruising Creative's forums (cause I'm gonna need a soundcard asap), Auzentech does use creative drivers .. or something that is creative, so that might be causing a conflict.

Try going into the bios and see if there's an onboard audio to either enable or disable (if you haven't already). Try disabling that and see if that helps. If you find a good working answer to that one, please post? It would help me and I'm sure lots of other people in the same "what the heck was the mobo maker thinking" boat.

As to the rest? Sorry, I have absolutely no clue. Good luck!

Hey, also wondering about the digital wire...
Is there a way I can get this plugged into my headphones?
Would I need an adapter?
Is the difference that significant?

noooooooooooooooooob

sorry lol.

NO

Hmm, okay.
Well, any tips for this? I installed all the drivers and stuff and it doesn't seem out of this world awesome... yet... My installation was sort of weird, and I still have software from my audigy 2, and USB card lingering...
sort of annoying =\

Tried in safe mode, tried various programs.
Should I just manually delete all of the creative files?

Hmm, so my mic is extremely quiet... Wondering what I can do about this?
I've cranked it, done the +20 boost thingy...
=\

ETA on resolution of this?
Is there an alternate path I can take to make this not be an issue...

There's a new patch coming out in a week (or two). I don't know if that will fix the mic issue or not.
