Automator Question

I just started playing around with automator, and it looks like it could be great tool to use. However, I can't get anywhere with what I wanted to do with it. I basically want it to create a list of all the artists I have in my either my iTunes library (or even better, on my ipod) and export them to a text file with a number next to each artist (the number being the order the artists are on my ipod). I want this so I can have a list of the artists with me in my car when I have it hooked up to my kenwood deck with the interface adapter. Any push in the right direction would be great. Thanks!

well, the problem with this is the music is not in any particular order, they are all in a database. You can sort by album and it's in one order, search by title and it's another order, etc, so to number them would not be accurate.

Just write it in applescript instead?
