I'm looking for a solution that will allow me centrally manage all Windows updates on my production servers and workstations so I can tone done this very time consuming task. I know there are some microsoft solutions, but I would rather stay away from them if at all possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for this by any chance?

WSUS is your best bet if you're running at least one server 2003 system.

Oakfan, correct me if I'm wrong, but WSUS does tie into an SQL database and that's where the pricing comes into play.
I do agree with having the WSUS option though.
By default it uses MSDE. if you have over 1000 clients to manage then I would reccommend MS SQL. But if you have that may system you likely have a MS SQL server anyways.
