Augmented Reality Overkill

Haha! Now just implement some directional-sound speakers so all those ads aren't jumbled.

Augmented reality seems a lot more useful outside the house though for things that don't carry alarms or lcd panels loaded with information... like people or what a distant object might be.

I can see this happening in the future. Just like some uninformed people just install all sorts of "toolbars" to their browser, in the future the same will happen with aug-apps (augmented reality applications).

The best thing will be to get an apple one, then it will confuse you with all that multitasking. you just have to sit and wait till your tea is done, no virtual peggle for you!

actually I thought it looked pretty damn awesome, except that he/she didnt know how to make tea.....

Reminds me of a Futurama episode where corporations put advertisements into your dreams.

Oh i can't wait for Augmented reality malware!!!!!

Man that was pretty sweet. The very beginning reminded me of that one Aqua Teen Hunger Force ep. with the internet hahaha.

Reminds of a cross between the novels Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan and Rainbow's End by Vernor Vinge. In AC, stuff like that is received by implants (and illegal, in some cases/places) to force the reception, and by wearable electronics in RE, displayed via contact lenses. I think Rainbow's End has a pretty good grasp on how things might be in the next 20 years or so.

I would have like to seen the ad level when dialed to an "expense" level instead of free or to a "pay you" level to see how distopian the creator's view. Probably trying to demonstrate a pretty bad view of technological dependence and loss of basic skills judging from the clues given. Regardless, it strikes me as a harbinger, though the ads will be more slick, context-based and animated.

And did that interface at the end really tell him he had to go pee?

Most people today can't do anything intellectual on their own. "Just Google it" and "Look it up on Wikipedia" are phrases I hear all too often  Just wait until this extends to physical reality and day to day tasks. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see people running around with shit alarms.

Open your eyes. Look our the windows. What do you see? See it? There is nothing more to see than what you are seeing. Quit it with this augmented reality crap already.

Ya know those japanese dating sims? May give a whole new meaning to 'interactive gaming'.

Augmented reality will be to the next generation what the Internet was to ours: they'll love it, we'll either hate it or have lots of trouble functioning with it.

When humans need machines to instruct them how to make tea in real time, it's over. You'll all be living in a Hello Kitty version of the Borg Collective.
