alright, I'm using the tv out on my fx-5200 and the video eventually gets out of sync. with the audio--lips aren't moving when the audio is going at times...any suggestions to fix this?

I believe its software related or the file itself. This happens to me every once in awhile as well.

is the a/v out of synch on the file itself? Check by playing on your monitor.

Lots of recorded video have problems synchronizing audio and video.
I generally have to drop my MPEG's to 29.968 fps and preload the audio by -350ms in Virtualdub to encode to Divx, but I rarely have problems playing back the MPEG itself.
What are you watching? Divx? MPEG? DVD's?

Ya know, I used to have this problem regularly but it hasn't happened in quite some time.

I assume you're using divx? If so upgrade to the latest version. Download NIMO's codec pack as well.
