Audio Upgrade

I've recently upgraded me video card along with slapping on another stick of 512mb ram.
and after careful consideration, i think its time i upgraded my audio...

I've been using the audio 97 or whatever that came integrated with my mobo, getting sound from the speakers on my monitor....so you can picture the quality of audio i've been enjoying so far.

I'm looking for an audio upgrade to my system, preferrably cost-efficient.

sound card and speaker recommendations are greatly appreciated.
I've been looking into logitech z-2200 and z-2300, but as of yet no sound card... I've never really used a sound card before, so I am not sure what to expect when it comes to sound cards.

It would be great if the speakers did not cost more than 120 dollars... and the sound card FAR less... it's not because i'm frugal.. wait..it is... every buck is worth gold in college...haha

plus i live in an apartment with the neighbor about 5 feet away from me, so I won't be bangin' the night away to a korn album...

p.s: ever since i upgraded my video card, i've been getting squeak noises when i scroll my mouse through a webpage or/and when i use mobydock. I've solved the mouse scroll part by disabling smoothscroll on IE.. any idea on how to solve the prob? thanks.

theres a cheap envy24 card out there, i forgot the name though :(

klipsch refurb looks very similar to a logitech z-2200..
I know klipsch is favored by a lot of audiophiles but a refurb over a new logitech?
i will seriously consider it though, thanks.

any other candidates besides the chaintech ?
