Audio troubles ever since I reformatted...

Long story short, reformatted a couple days ago cause I really needed to. I installed Windows XP Build 2600, I had this build installed before. The problem is everytime I try to play some Mp3's they just don't play. I'll hear a clicking kind of noise and it will go to the next track. I've tried using Winamp, WMP, and VLC Media Player and they all do the same thing. When I boot up to Media Center Edition the Mp3's play just fine. To those who can help, it would be very appreciated. Thanks. :)

you didn't mention what your sound source is...onboard, seperate sound card. you did load the audio drivers for your source, yes?

Yeah, it's an onboard sound card. I used WinXP drivers, then the companies drivers and still the same problem.

Could be many causes.

Do you have "digital output only" checked? That could be a problem. Other problems would be some volume setting is turned down, or windows XP is'nt selected for the onboard audio.

WIthout being their to fiddle around with it, its hard to say for sure.

To check to see if you have that digital audio only checked, open up the main windows volume setting, and click the advanced button under the master volume slider.

~Hope this helps
