I noticed last night that, when watching videos, my audio appears to be a frame or two off from the video -- that is, the audio plays very slightly after a visual cue. I tried playing in WMP and MPC-HC and VLC. I also tried my second monitor, and it occurs there too. I tried my speakers as well as my headphones. I initially noticed it with an .mp4 file, but .wmv also seems to do the same thing.
I did the standard fixes: checked audio drivers (VIA HD, they are up to date), my video drivers (Nvidia, up to date), and my monitor drivers (Samsung b2030, up to date).
After a lot of Googling, I haven't come to any clear answers. One other old forum post suggested downloading this video file (http://www.theonlineengineer.org/TheOLEBLOG/lip-sync-testing/) to see how many frames are off. When played back at 0.16x (in MPC) the sound appears to occur not precisely when the bars are vertical, but rather one "click" after (i.e. the bar moves a single instance to the right so it's "partially" vertical). I'm not sure if that counts for being off-sync or not because I don't have any other devices to test it on.
I am at a loss for what to try next.
It very well could be in my head and I'm paying a little too close of attention, but any help would be appreciated.
