Audio problems in several games

I'm having some sound problems in Far Cry, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and Battlefield 1942. After a variable amount of playing time the sound becomes scratchy. The only way to fix it is to exit and restart the game.

I'm using the integrated sound on my A7N8X Deluxe and a set of Altec Lansing speakers (a sub, left/right, and 2 satellites). I currently have the mobo drivers that shipped with the mobo installed. Should I upgrade the drivers? If so, is there a way to uprgade only the sound portion of the drivers? I only ask because I had some trouble with my system recognizing my wireless network card after reinstalling mobo drivers last time.

What do you mean scratchy? What kinda of sounds are you hearing?

I mean just that. Scratchy. All the sounds are the same, but they're scratchy. Kind of like there's a whole lot of static all of a sudden. The ambient sounds, weapon sounds, dialogue, everything in those games just gets static filled and scratchy. At first I thought it might be the speakers, but it only happens in those games.

Right click the volume icon on the task bar, click Adjust Audio Properties, click the audio tab, hit advanced, click the performance tab. Lower the hardware acceleration one notch and see if it's still scratchy.
