Audio Prioritization

Does anyone know of a way to prioritize audio from different applications? I want to keep my game sound levels to normal settings and have them automatically reduce when audio comes in from Ventrillo. That way I do not have to choose between playing with reduced volume ingame or ridiculously loud ventrillo volume. As my signature shows, I do have a dedicated sound card if this makes a difference.

Not sure how to do it automatically but open the game and ventrillo then alt tab out. Click the little speaker icon in the lower right corner of the taskbar, click mixer and you'll see separate volume bars for different applications. Also make sure to look through the sound panel (control panel, hardware and sound, sound). Not sure if windows will recognize ventrillo as "communication activity" but you could try settings the option under the communications tab of the sound panel to "reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%" and see if that makes a difference (if it isn't already set to that by default). Also in the playback tab select your output and click properties, go to the advanced tab. I doubt it but see if unchecked the two options in that tab makes any difference. Sorry if my post sounds incoherent or if my suggestions sound obvious, I haven't slept much this past week.
