Hey there all! I currently use my on-board audio that came with my DFI LanParty UT Ultra-D Motherboard. It comes with the Karajan Audio Module (Realtek ALC850 8-channel audio CODEC).

Does this support 'hardware' rendering in BF2? I saw a readme file (from totalbf2.com or something of that sort that said Realtek ALC861 audio isn't supported http://www.tacticalgamer.com/showthread.php?t=55128). I have an old SB live x-gamer 5.1 sitting around but that doesn't support it either.

I hear and it also makes common sense to me that if you use hardware rendering as opposed to software rendering, your FPS will go up significantly because your sound processing is being done on the soundcard instead of the CPU.

I know a lot of people have DFI boards with this audio chipset on it so this should be a easily answered question. If the answer is no, it can't do hardware rendering. What soundcard do you guys recommend (the one best for its money)?

The ALC880 doesn't support more than 32 voices. does this matter for bf2 and other games alike?
