Hey, I have an Abit IC7 mobo and was wondering if i need to get a seperate sound card. Is the onboard sound on that any good or should I get a new SB something? The specs for the onboard are this:

- 6-Channel AC 97 CODEC on board
- Professional digital audio interface supports S/P DIF optical In/Out

Thanks

That depends on what other gear you are using with it. What kind of speakers/headphones do you use?

For headphones I have the standard type, nothing too expensive like 40-50$. The speakers I have aren't that great, but a decent entry level 5.1 setup, Altec lansing 251
