Audio Noob

I just ordered my x-fi and z-5500s from newegg. But i realized that i didnt order any extra cables with them. I know the 5500s dont come with and optical or coxial cable, but i really dont know what the pros and cons of the two are. I think i read somwhere that if im just using them for my computer (which i am), i should just use the analog cables. Is this right? Or should i order somthing else?
