After coming home from a 14 trip, i did windows update. After it was done, i went to play a game and only got sound coming out of the right side of the headphones. To rule out headphone problems, i plugged them into my boombox and everything was fine. Its definately a computer problem. I uninstalled all the audio drivers, rebooted and reinstalled them. Still sound only on right. Im stumped because this problem only popped up after installing updates that dont have anything to do with sound. (btw its an old Sound Blaster Live card and im running Windows XP)

In the Creative Control Panel (or the windows sound controls), there should be an option somewhere that has your balance, make sure the slider is in the middle and not all the way on the right.

since im not a complete moron, thats the first thing i did, thanks for your response though. I wish these other lazybones would get off their butts and help me :D

this morning i got a device error and now i have no sound. everything else works fine. WHY DONT I HAVE SOUND?!?!?!?!!?!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH   :(

I want to say that the drivers for the SBLive (I also use it) can cause problems if you use the wrong driver pack. There was an update on Windows Update that tried to fix the problem, but if you used it with the new drivers (your sound was working and you updated with the MS drivers), it caused problems.
