audio driver does not stay

I have been running Windows 2000 on my thinkpad 600. After I had a clean install of Windows XP, the audio device was not activated. I was able to find a driver for it. It worked perfectly after that. But the drive is gone after I reboot. What can I do so that the audio driver is activated every time I boot? Thank you.
 
I had a similar problem when I switched to XP. I was using my integrated sound on 2k. When I switched no matter what driver I used it would not work with XP, so I just put a sound card in it. I'm not sure about the switching of the drivers on boot, odd. :confused:
 
Sounds like your not using the exact driver, but one that's close. See if there's an updated version.
 
I got it to work!!

The trick is uninstalling the original audio device then reboot. XP will detect the audio device then we can install the driver.
