Hey guys, I've posted a thread else-where but I now come to you in hopes that someone will be able to help me out.

In the video you'll notice (Prominently in the first few seconds, you may need to turn up the quality to hear properly) that there is audio crackle when driving in Saints row the third, this audio crackle doesn't always occur all the time, just in specific points in different games. You can't hear the crackling half as much on the video as when playing, when in-game you hear it constantly while driving, where-as on the video you can only really hear it at certain points.
For example, in saints row I only notice it when I drive forward, in skyrim it's when I jump, in cave story it's when I pick up a life capsule, in L4D2 it's when I am respawning as infected. Each case has the same sounding crackle. It can appear randomly when watching videos too on Youtube, but it's always in specific points if it crackles at 16 seconds in on the video, it won't randomly make the same noise at 20 seconds in another time I watch it, it'll always be 16 seconds in.

Here's what I've done so far in my attempts to fix the issue:

Testing 3 different pairs of headphones
Removing my headphone amp from my audio system
Trying 2 different sound cards (X-fi and Xonar DG)
Trying on board sound
Trying an external DAC connected by both optical (From my Xonar) and straight from USB
Formatting windows 7
Playing on my second HDD running Vista
Checking DPC latency (Sometimes can be around 600, but generally stays around 120)
Moving both my GPU and my Sound card's slots around
Underclocking my CPU
Underclocking my GPU
Using unified Xonar drivers
Removing any Microsoft/Nvidia HD audio drivers
Re-installing Microsoft/Nvidia HD audio drivers
Disabling any audio devices not in use
Updating network adapters
Updating BIOS
Re-wiring my PC internally and externally
Plugging my PSU into a different wall socket
Changing the cable between my PSU and the socket


Any last things I can think of trying before swapping out my PC components to see if 1 of them is faulty? It's been suggested to try borrowing a PSU to see if that's going wrong, but I'm looking for any ideas that people may have as of the cause before I start ripping my PC to bits.

j/k. You've done more than I would have thought of, I'd try a different motherboard first.

What are your specs? I highly doubt it's the power supply.

Gigabyte 560Ti SOC
850W Corsair ATX PSU
Antec 1200 case
Xonar DG sound card
Denon D2000's headphones
Samsung F3 1Tb HDD
Project DAC Box USB

They're the most relevant bits I think, not sure if I'm missing something.
 
what happens when you play the game and the volume its turned down ? Or is it medium level ?

When the volume is turned down and I turn my headphone amp up, the noise is much less obvious. Another problem with my set-up is double amping, which is probably making the crackle a lot worse than it is, not to say that getting rid of 1 of the amps would totally fix the issue, but it would most likely improve it, which is why the crackle is less of an issue when I use onboard sound.

how about plugging your headphones directly into the computer instead of going through the amp ?
 
Had this problem in FEAR2. It was cause my audio was to high. I set it to 50% in windows never heard it again.
