i would like to burn a 3 hour music file to a cd so i can play it in my car. the file is 400 mb. if i record it as a mp3, i get all kinds of warnings because it exceeds the 80 minute limit. is there another format i can record that will also play in a car cd player? thanks.
 
Standard CD players can read the standard .cda data format at 16 bit 44.1 khz ONLY. Which means that a cd will hold ~80 min at best.

If you had an MP3 cd player, you could just make a data cd and burn the MP3s onto it.
 
hey nightraven, i play mp3 cd's in my car all the time. does this mean i can make it as a data cd? or does the burning software convert it to .cda before burning?
 
From what you've already stated, I can tell you that haven't made any MP3 CDs, you're making audio CDs, or else you would not have an 80 minute limit. It'd be restrictly purely by file size.
