audio cd player to cd-rom

I am looking for a way to convert an audio cd player mount to be able to read cd-roms. I have been looking all over the internet for schematics and had little success. one method that came to mind was taking the curcuit board off the audio player and attaching the one from the CD-ROM. Anyone have any other suggestions?
 
doubtful that you'll be able to do it.. they're designed differently

Can you give us a reason why you want to do this, maybe we can give you other solutions.

Converting a audio cd player to read CD-ROM just is not going to happen with any reasonable amount of money.
