Audigy2 Noise Floor?

I'm running my Audigy2 (vanilla version) through a MINT headphone amp into my Alessandro MS-1's and I'm getting a noticable background hiss. On my amp, I have 100 Ohm output resistors, and the amp is dead quiet for all my other sources (Sony PCDP and a Nomad Zen Xtra). I used to think the Audigy 2's SNR was pretty good. Is anyone else's Audigy2 this noisy? My amp is about 10x gain.

Before suggesting the AV-710, does anyone know what might be causing this problem?
 
How close is the amp to the monitor?
Using a sheilded IC?
Input caps on the amp?
AD opamp I assume?
Bypass caps on the amp?
What else is connected to the soundcard?
What does the amp do when there is no input?
Enough questions.... I have never seen a Audigy 2 hiss like you are describing

I never really thought my audigy 2 was all that great when it came to noise and when I upgraded to my Delta, that feeling was made certain.

Sounds like you have an unusual amount of noise, but in my time owning the A2, I was never really impressed by the noise floor.
 
Sorry about my poor nomenclature....
Bypass caps are not common components on mints.
They are helpful when you have noise problems with other opamps but the 8620 is pretty stable and only requires them when you have other issues with oscillation.

By input caps I meant C1
C2= PSU caps to me. :D


Is to fair to say that when you said the amp was dead quiet you meant across it's entire volume range?
The reason I ask is cause I have seen mint's oscillate readily at 80% volume but be dead quiet across the normal listing range.
Got another non radio shack cable handy?
 
Do you have a standard headphone out on your cdrom drive?
Try that and see if it hisses.... dont forget to turn the volume way down on it first. :p
 
Here's what happened:

Nothing plugged in, all volume ranges silent.

I don't have another radioshack cable, but it works fine for all other sources in the same testing area.

Headphone out on the Plextor: silent as well.

Yea..

It's silent until it gets halfway through the Windows boot process (I guess it powers up).

I'll change its PCI slot eventually and post back.
