Hi,

I guess this is a dumb question, but when everyone refers to Audigy 1, does that include Audigy LS,???

cos I was looking for some updates for my Audigy LS, and there was an update for Audigy Series, but there was a note: This update is not meant for Audigy LS, Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS audio cards.

Hi silvest,

Actually, the Audigy LS carries the Audigy name - but uses a completely different audio chip than the other Audigys. It doesn't use the EMU10K2 chip at all, but a cheaper DSP chip that doesn't actually support 3D gaming positional audio APIs directly - it supports DirectSound3D, EAX1, EAX2 and EAX3 (but not EAX4) at the software driver level rather than in hardware. And that "Audigy Series" update is only for the original Audigys.

The Audigy LS drivers are specific to that card - and that card alone.

oh no... does that mean i got a lousier buy ?? compared to other audigy series?? even the ES is better ???

Actually, there has never been an Audigy ES sold in retail packaging - that card is an OEM-only part. And the Audigy ES is basically an Audigy LS without some of the frills.
