Hi all, im wondering if you can help me? ive just got HD 485 headphones combined with my new pc and its audigy Z, the basic one is it? well when i do a voice call over xfire i get static/hissing while im connected and talking to someone and i can even head the hard drive spinning and my own voice and all the keys i press. I think its that thing where the sound is reading digital audio instead of analog or something? you know when u turn sound recorder on when no mic is attached and you wont get any speech but you will record music thats playing on your pc? like pure electrical sounds. that might be the problem. ive seen posts about people saying to turn on the line in, keep microphone on and turn on s/pdif-in but you cannot run mic and turn them both on, as soon as you select microphone unmute the line in mutes. can i stop this insane static and echoing of every time i scratch my nose? im deafened if i simply put down my mic on the desk!

All I can tell you is that if you're hearing yourself, try muting the microphone from the playback end. You obviously still need it selected in the Recording part of your sound options, but it must be muted in playback, or else you will hear yourself talk.
