Ok, been awhile since I have had a problem this strange. I recently purchased a X-Fi soundcard to replace my onboard audio. After uninstalling the AC97 drivers for the onboard, I rebooted, disabled the onboard sound in the bios, shut down, installed the soundcard, and went through the rest of the install procedure. Everything was fine, except that the output volume to my 2.1 powered speakers was rediculously low! Even with every volume setting jacked to 100%, it was still barely audible, even on headphones!
Naturally, after exausting all software issues, I figured I had a bad or damaged card. I exchanged it for an Audigy 4. After making damn sure ALL drivers from the X-Fi install were gone, I went through the install regime for the Audigy. Guess what? Still barely audible!

I have searched for issues on the web with people who have similar setups or problems. I turn up 2 dead threads on some random sites with absolutely no help. I am at my wits end here, so I must leave my fate up to the [H] gods. Thanks in advance!
