I have a Audigy2 ZS and Logitecg 5500d setup. Where would I be able to find a cable from the SPDIF Out on the Audigy2 ZS to my 5500d.. Either Coax or Optical will work. Thx
 
I have a cable that splits the digital jack into a coax and digital din connection.. I got it from creative directly..
 
nah, I contacted their customer service, and they sent it to me for free..
 
If you're just looking for coax to the speaker set, I just use a minijack->rca adapter (radioshack carries them in store for a couple bucks) and then attach whichever coax cable you want to it. I tend to lean towards acoustic research cables, they are well built (look/feel better than the low end radio shack stuff) but they don't gouge you like monster does. I figure somewhere in the middle ground is ideal for quality cables w/out the uber-high price.
 
I hate to be a stickler, but hooking your Z5500s up to a digital connection on the Audigy 2 ZS will not produce better sound than the 6 cable analog connection. Just because it is digital does not mean it is better.
 
I have the same setup, don't bother with the digital connection, it might sound cooler on paper but it sucks, 99% of your shit will be coming out of only two speakers. You'll see if you try it. The analog connection is much superior, and honestly, does it really matter that much where the signal gets converted to analog?
 
You only should connect the SPDIF when you want to watch DVD movies on your PC.
This is a pass through for the AC3 signal to be decoded by your 5500.
If you do want to watch DVD and want to use the 5500's decoder, then make sure you checked SPDIF option in your DVD software.

I do it myself and it is awesome... especially with the 5500 decoding and blasting away :D
This is also the reason I bought myself a 22" CRT
 
I don't see the point in using the 5500's to decode... why would you use those DACs instead of the A2ZS'? There's no way that the DACs on the 5500's are better...

Please, dont write this unless you actually have listened to both options.
I can read out of your post that you never had the pleasure of enjoying the 5500's or any PC soundsystem with a dedicated decoder :rolleyes:
I am sure the A2ZS will do it's job well, but better than a 5500?!?! :confused:

well neither dac is really that great so id imagine it wouldnt make much of a diff specially on a logi system
 
Simple economics- DAC's are a large part of a soundcard, whereas on a system with integrated decoding/DAC capability, they are a very small part, also considering that on such a system the DAC's may never be used.
