Audigy 2 worth it?

im using Abit's IC7-MAX3 onboard sound now. i have no grips, but i wonder if i could have better using the Audigy 2? im using Klipsch 4.1's btw.
 
you will probably see some difference in creative enhanced games like doom3, more depth to sounds and the like. besides games then no its not worth it, obviously.
 
only reason i even bothered with one myself i did not want to waste a pci slot on a firewire card nor did i want to upgrade my motherboard, if your happy with your current sound dont bother
 
I can't really say if the Audigy will be better for you or not, but I know I have mixed feelings about the card. Creative bundles a huge amount of bloatware with the card, and a lot of "features" they tout about the card actually comes from the software they use.

Stripping off all those bloated apps and just installing drivers, the card performs pretty good. It's really up to you. I'd say, if you're happy with your current sound setup in games then there isn't really a reason to spend the $60 on an Audigy 2.

If you play games, then absolutely yes. This is where the Audigy series excells above all else. You will notice a quality increase over every type of sound you play (if your ears aren't irrepairably damaged). Remember, Doom 3 isn't the only must-have game coming out this year, and expect many games to make good use of Creative's EAX 4 which is only available on Audigy series cards.
