i have an audigy 2 platinum ex and i sometimes get 5.1 sound out of it but most of the time i only get 2.1 sound and when plugging my ipod into my klipsche 5.1's i still only get 2.1 sound so maybe its the speakers, if thats the case what could cause this.

it's not a problem...

when are you getting this 2.1 sound? maybe when playing music?
when are you getting 5.1 sound? maybe when watching a movie or playing a game?

music isn't 5.1... I have been able to get music to come out of the back speakers by chaning the balance of the front to back speakers.
