Audigy 2 - Not recognized by Creative Beta Driver

I am trying to load the Creative Beta Driver for my Audigy 2. I can install the regular drivers that came on the original CD but the dowloaded driver errors with "unsupported product...etc). Just for the record it is the correct driver for the Audigy 2 listed on the Windows XP page on the Creative site Has anyone had probelms with this patch or is there some good idea on the best way to "completely" uninstall a Creative product and reinstall fresh?
