what is a good ATX pin remover to buy? i bought the A.C.RYAN one and it broke after 2 pins. my dad did one of them and neither of us abused it. i was planning on re-sleeving my cables today and cleaning up my wiring, but i can't do that anymore :(
 
Use a precision flathead screwdriver. You can pick them up at radioshack. Just be careful, it's not hard, just takes patience.
 
The best value is the psu sleeving tool kit by CaseArts, www.directron.com has them for $25, and you get 4 tools for everything compared to about $10 for a single tool that isnt as nice anywhere else. I have a set, they are super slick.
 
when i chaned my 20 pin plug to blue. i used a ear ring sounds odd i know. but i saw what side had the clip (top or bottom) i then slide the ear ring in and it released the clip. i then just pulled the wires out.

never done a PSU mod before.. any guides you might recommend?

how fragile is the atx / p4 one?
 
Just got mine about a week ago and i would not be afraid to whack it with a hammer. If you break those with your hands then there is something terribly wrong. Just take the time to get used to the feel the first 3 or 4 were difficult till i got the hang of it.
 
ive used several molex pin ATX connector removers, and 4 me... they all suck ass... :(
my best tool is stratened out staples, like you would find out of a stapler off a teachers desk back in grade school....
if i break or bend one of them... i just pop a few more staples outa the stapler...
much cheeper and much more effective...

glad to know i'm not the only one that has trouble with them. i think i will be looking at the snap-on catalog online to see if they have something that will work.
 
got mine acryan remover from performance-pcs.com.....broke after i finished taking the connector apart, started putting a black one on, and put a pin in the wrong spot.....emailed performance-pcs.com and they sent me a new one out next day (with first class shipping tho....) i got to keep the broken one...

i now store it in bubble wrap...
 
well I just used a ball point pens ink cartridge and it works great on the males..don't know about the females though
