ATX GES tyan power supply problems.

Hi everybody!

I have that power supply which doesn't want to start! Anybody can help me to start it without the mobo? There's a power check grey wire on the 8 pin connector, anybody can tell me what that one is connected to normaly, the five volts, the ground or the 12v, or else, the bios batery voltage???????

You need to jumper the green wire ( pin 5 in the main atx connector ) to any black ground wire.
Just put a load of a couple of fan etc on the psu before switching on.

Well, i've already tried that, but doesn't work, but the guy assured me that it was working. I'm puzzled. I know the grey wire is a power check, but i don't know how it works.

Jumper the green/black like normal.
Then try adding a jumper to the gray/black.
First just touch it like a momentary switch would.

Hi everybody!

Tigerbiten, Xeese, that didn't work! FFS! I want that PS to work, i want my mobo in the comp, and the tiger out and on ebay! The tiger works, but i have a better board and can't use it! Bleemin Tyan, why couldn't they use a normal atx connector? Sorry guys!

Tigerbiten, would you think i could make an ATX (20 pins) to ATX GES adapter??? What puzzles me in thoses PS is the several wires they have, why???? Mater of having insulation between some parts of the circuit? I know it's not a phase thing (it's DC !)

I have a GES that I was converting to ATX. Did the plug, but then you have to find the -5V on the power supply circuit board - that is lacking from the GES, but necessary for ATX.
 
Hi everybody!

Xeese, you should have sold it on ebay, and buy a proper atx one then, thoses are the mainstream ones, and dead easy to find. The Ges ones thought, are harder to comme by, even, more over here in europe.

Anyone has a schemo of a ges power supply?
