ATX Case vs. BTX Case, what's different?

I want to build an acrylic case for the ATX mobo and components that I have now. If I wanted to keep this case into the days of BTX mobos, what would I have to do?

thanks

you'll have to make a new mobo tray, a new front panle, a new back panle, (so you can keep the top, botom, and one side of the case you make now)

or, dont go over to BTX (im sure some one will make a new board atx compliant (if no one buy btx they will stop making btx and we can all keep our cases the way we like)

...except that OEMs have way more buying power than us, and the change benefits them directly. Our marketing segment is more divided in opinion; I for one support the transition to BTX.

yes oem buys more than we do, but for the most part they dont buy what we buy, i havent seen a dell overclocked pc with watter cooling yet...

a company will still make atx if its worth it, and if some of the comunity sticks to it, then some one will still make it, to make $

Im not a fan of btx, I like having my cards at the botom, if you add a fan, and if you make a vid card with the gpu on the top (easy enouph) then there is no need for that change, If PCIexpress is better than agp thats cool and im ok with that but i dont need to buy a new case, just for that... just my $0.02 USD

BTX will take over for several reasons .. first of all, when was the last time you didn't need to upgrade to the newest format ? lol. Secondly its better for cooling, and almost all motherboard makers are releasing their PCI Express boards on BTX. :)

Basically BTX is a 180 degree mirror of ATX ... in a sense. So we will ALL NEED new cases for them. Thats why upgrading now is really not a good idea with so much hardware coming out in the next couple of months.

well Im runing a p4 2.4, so i havent upgraded for a couple of new chips, just b/c pci ex. is going to be on the btx boards is no reason it cant be on the atx boards, your telling me that asus that makes boards for people to oc their computers, isnt going to put pci ex. on an atx compliant mobo,

oh no not a new cpu, ram mobo, and vid card, (isnt that what a normal upgraid is) if i was an oem looking for a quiet cool(temp) case so i could use less fans and not have them verry visable, then btx is great, but oem has their boards made for them... they dont buy overclocking high end mobo's and i have no problem adding fans to my computer for cooling, so btx wouldnt change cooling in my pc if you threw it into my case right now

hum i can get a btx case and mod it again, or i can get an atx mobo and still not have anny cooling issues. 1/2 of the btx case is where the fan is, oh look i can move and add fans, done, no need to go to btx or is there something im missing where it wicks away heat by using fairy magic???????????

Wow, never thought I'd see BTX fanboys...

BLsibub is right, though. The OEM segment does have more buying power, but only over OEM boards. You know the crap they put in those, and you'd never buy one. Therefor, what they do has no bearing over what we do. If we dont' buy BTX boards, they will have to make ATX boards or lose that part of their income.

I have no intention of upgrading my case. I'm going to stay ATX as long as I can. When I need an upgrade, if Intel is still pusing BTX I'll see what else is out there. I'm in no hurry to replace every single component in my computer. Worst case scenario, I will mod my damn case from ATX to BTX. Which is what our Acrylic case guy is gonna have to do anyway. I say go for it.

This is complete nonsense. Stay off the drugs, son. I've never seen so much using a word to define itself. You've told us all we HAVE to upgrade to BTX, because it's BTX. Why do you fill my brain with hurting?
