Attempting to OC barton2500

My comp is in the sig, i'm getting kingston 512mb pc3200 tho...

just wondering what progs I can use to check temps, OC cpu, and play with my settings while in windows =) Let me know , I appreciate it and need your help..

Also I'm gonna see how far I can take this baby when i get an si-97!

For overclocking, you pretty much have to do everything in the BIOS (setting Mulitpliers, CPU Voltage, FSB Speed, etc), however you would have to test the system in windows. You would need at least the following to test stability:

1. MemTest86+ (Tests RAM, whether it's stable or not)
2. Prime95
3. Motherboard Monitor to check temps.

Now other people will use SiSoft Burnin, 3dmark 2k3 looping, etc etc. I just use Prime95 right now.

I've seen a program where you can bump up the FSB and multiplier and voltage in windows, I'm wondering if you know what its called ??

nVidia has a software called nTune and I believe your motherboard is supported, however I wouldn't recommend using it to seriously overclock, since any real adjustment on the fly that might push your components too far may trash your windows. Use it if you must, but I'd avoid it if you can.

Edit: Just checked the list, only the NF7-S is supported, no the NF7 V2.0

Well I just want that program to test what fsb I could go on thrugh windows, i'm not a great overclocker./... but just wondering how far a Barton 2500 NONmobile will take ... I'm going to buy a mobile in the future ! My goal is 2.5ghz from a barton 2500+

A NONmobile should get u at least around 2.1-2.3 depending your core voltage and cooling.

My mobile right now runs at 2.53 @ 1.9 volts (1.825 but my mobo overvolts) and it's not 100% stable. Needs a bit more juice probably. It is however stable at 2.42 @ 1.77 (1.7 on mobo).

Don't expect a 2.5, since 2.5's are still actually a hard overclock to achieve, although 2.2 is very common, and 2.3's and 2.4's less so.

Let me know what the problem is.

I've got a 2600+ currently overclocked to 2.3GHz. I may be able to go higher (my bios allows voltage settings up to 2.3 for the CPU). But I am probably held back a little bit by my DDR333 ram, even though it is running at 400 rock stable.....Doom3, Prime95 for 11 hours, memtest 3.2 fine, 3DMark03, etc...
