Atom to small for me?

Im looking for a new laptop that will just get me on the internet and will run antivirus and spyware software (probably use avast!). Im thinking of getting one of those small laptops that are powered with an intel atom processor.

What am i getting into with one of these? With the internet i do want to watch streaming videos like short clips from tv shows like x-play and ign game reviews, will the atom help run this for me pretty smooth? Heat as well, does atom get pretty hot?

I cant think of anything else except if it could run avast under all this. If nod is a bit more light weight i would use that i guess. Windows xp is another thing i need to look into since its being phased out it seems, I hope not.

Thanks for help on purchasing an atom.
 
I had 3 netbooks, 2 with the atom, and one with the old celeron 900. Dreadfully slow, especially in video streaming.
 
Thanks for the heads up. Guess ill look into something stronger.
