ATI's new control panel has got to go

Alright I realize its been out for one day and yes a few bugs can be expected but heres what ive found in the last 5hrs since installing it

1)Doom 3 Profiling doesnt work
2)GTA Vice City Profiling Doesnt work
3)When used with Radlinker system restarts
4)3dmark 2001 score dropped ~500 points(no biggie)
5)When changing AA settings twice it has hung on me

Better luck than myself. I couldn't even install it. I downloaded the ones seperate from the driver because I already had the 4.8 cats. It fucked up and now it's permanantly screwed. So i'm stuck on the old ones. That's fine, I don't need anymore resources sucked up than I have already.

There is a new version of radlinker that works with it.

It froze on me also trying to change AA modes, i like the old control panel better myself

You will see updated (that is to say, fixed) versions of the new CC soon enough. Try using the "no preview" mode for changing settings (personally, I just customized view to remove many of the unwanted ones). Also, the CC does take up a lot of memory, although it's possible to minimize this with some modifcation; in addition, it releases memory when other programs demand it. The D3 problem will be fixed and there is a workaround, just read [H]'s CC preview/review. It's likely GTA:VC can be fixed likewise; report it to ATI, though.

I have been using it for a couple hours and have made lots of changes and created a couple profiles and haven't had any trouble. It does seem a little bloated, in that some things seem to take awhile to respond, BUT im sure that with new releases and updates it will become quite nice. I really like the profiles.

I would say there is a good chance that there is a newer version coming soon. One that uses less memory. Give it a month...

Also anyone using this should make sure to have .net 1.1 sp1 or the .net 2 beta or C3 will do some strange things.

I just did a reformat early this morning and my XT PE is running Doom 3 silky smooth (as usual) with the CAT 4.8s...

is this the control panel that you guys are talking about or is it a different one?

they said in the press release that there were problems with the profiles
you need to link the profile to the shortcut not the .exe i think.

As for the slow response times turn off the skins. e.g. put it on system skin rather than the defualt silvery one
