I can't seem to get my video card to output the 1620x1050 resolution that this 20" LCD is designed for, at least not on the DVI.

I've only had the monitor hooked up for a few minutes, via DVI. I see under display properties under "secondary monitor" that I have full access to all resolution ranges.

Will I get the 1620x1050 resolution by switching to the VGA port? Will I see any noticeable loss of picture/clarity by going to VGA?
 
If you haven't figured out the problem yet, try installing the newest ati drivers or the ati drivers that came cd with the monitor.

If the new drivers don't work then you can try hooking it up to the vga port, but I doubt you'll get 1680x1050 on vga if you're not getting it on dvi.

Try the drivers first, if they don't fix it post back, but I'm pretty sure they're the answer.
