ATi X800PRO problem

I have bought the x800pro ati card, and recently when i was using it, i realized when i flicker the screen (alt tabbing from a full screen gaming.... or when i have been using the computer for a long period of time, then i shut off my monitor and when i want to turn it back on, nothing shows up on my monitor)

It doesn't seem like that my monitor is failing, cause i tried to plug it into other comps to test... Is it possible that my video card is overheated? or it's buggy? or.... ?
(i use the asus a8n-sli mobo)

I hope anyone can give me some assistance cause using a computer with a black screen is a pain :(
 
i forgot to say, when my screen 'flickers' in any situation, i have to wait for about 10-15mins with my monitor shut off , then when i turn it back on everything will be back to normal.... ** side note: this problem persist after i reboot comp... and i must wait before i can see images on my monitor **

any help would be appreciated, thanks
 
I do think its the electricity and maybe your pSU is not strong enough.

What monitor are you using , is it a CRT ?

What is your PSU size? Also the BIOS on your motherboard , does it support your card?

Write your full spec. I think they take a lot of electricity , check the wattage on the internet.
 
i have an enermax 420V, and if i remember correctly my mobo should support my vid card... and i use viewsonic ve910b (lcd)

The ranges on your Rails , are they in the given range?

They have to be checked with a Multimeter and they have to be within 5% , all of them.

There is a PSU checker you can buy and check it with that. Your power supply seems to be enough but the flicker is a refresh rate is happening fast enough and that would point to under voltage and in the end point to the PSU.
 
sorry I'm only an amateur in computer, what exactly do u mean by Rails? and what exactly am I verifying @ 5% with the multimeter on the PSU?

If you would kindly explain how this under voltage issue works I'd really appreciate it (I'm totally lost atm... sorry!! :confused: )

Doesn't sound like a power issue. I had the same problem where I lost video input and got it 10 seconds later after my screen flickered off 3 times and VPU recover kicked in, but I guess it doesn't hurt to check your power supply.
 
maybe i should look into a 600W PSU ? :eek: .... i hope it's not my vid card problem
