Hello everyone

I currently own a ATI 9800XT. I am happy with the visual quality in the only game I play (Final Fantasy XI Online). After reading the about X800 and looking at those noticable improvement on FPS in benchmark. I was wondering...

Would the visual quality in (FFXI) increase if I buy X800 since the improvement in FPS is noticable?

Please help me out!

Thank You

Allan

LOL...you'd be surprised at how many people I know who "only play FFXI," and quite a few of them have 9800P/XT. But anyway...

Visual quality per se would not increase. Performance would, which indirectly might lead to better visual quality. From what I've seen from X800 reviews and the FFXI benchmark, performance improvement is minor, although I'm likely to suggest this is due to a CPU-limiting factor. My guess would be that you will see improvement at higher resolutions and higher AA/AF settings, in combination. So if by better quality you mean being able to play FFXI at 1600x1200 with 4x/8x or 6x/16x...then, yes. Your FPS improvement at lower settings, again IMHO, would be minor. The concept would be to play at higher rez and AA/AF while maintaining or even slightly exceeding your current FPS found at lower settings...
