After finding out the bios from the other forum http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=859581

I added my other questions in there, but no one answers it. I tried changing the title but it doesnt change on the outside of the forum. Basically to sum it all up. My overclock for my video card has seriously changed. I can barely run over X800 Pro speeds with out artifacts in Aquamark.
I have huge ram sinks on my ram http://www.frozencpu.com/ram-19.html?id=VTfsueKr
With 2 Panaflow 120mm Ultra fans blowing over the card. The video card gpu is water cooled with swiftech's mcw50 waterblock. I tried differernt drivers with no luck also. I flashed back to X800 Pro, but my 16 pipes are still enabled. So as a last resort I got a RMA for my video card. Yet I rather not send it out unless its nessecary. If I cant get this working like a champ, is there a way to hide the 4 extra pipes in the x800?

can i send you a check for 500 so you can buy me a x800 xt? its people like YOU who drive up the cost of graphics cards. rma'ing parts that YOU fucking broke

I'm assuming though if they see your pro has 16 pipelines unlocked they aren't going to give you a refund/exchange. They are going to know you flashed it.

It honestly sounds he modified WAY too much on his videocard to get RMA for it. They are just going to laugh at it

I said that would be my very last resort. I was more asking about idea's how to fix the artifact issue.

Oh yes very true, it works fine at X800 pro 16 pipes, but it did do much higher overclocks. I love this card, I just dont like the artifacts at xt pe speeds, any idea's?

Modded it way too much? it was just a bios flash lol

Did you flash originally with the gigabyte flashrom? You can't go back after you flash using that. What you can do to get back to 12 pipes is flash an empty bios over the modfied one using techpowerup's modified bios, and then without rebooting, flash your original one back onto it. You did keep your original bios, the one that had the information about which quad was disabled, right? If you didn't you can flash an X800Pro bios, but it's luck of the draw that the right pipes will be disabled.

Look here for directions:

You say it works fine with 16 pipes at stock pro speeds, it just artifacts at PE speeds. The truth is that many Pro VIVOs won't do XT PE speeds. That's why their Pro VIVOs. My Pro Vivo will do PE speeds through a benchmark like 3Dmark05 or some light gaming, but hardlocks at that speed in HL2. Using ATI Tool you need to raise the core and memory clocks indepently to see where the problem is. Chances are you can run at least at 500/500. In any case, your card is much faster than the one you bought, even at stock clocks with 16 pipes. You should be happy with it. Even if your RMA is successful, you may get a straight Pro back (not VIVO) or a Pro Vivo that has bad pipes. The real world speed difference between an XT PE and an XT is practically nothing.

If you must have XT PE speeds, you can always consider a vcore mod. Maybe your vcore is low from the factory.

sounds like something definitely blew up from the stress.

I took the card all apart and behold, the core has a slight chip

Seems after testing though, its not the core giving out, its the ram. Better do a visual inspecting to see if anything else is wrong.

With the exposed core, you have to be careful not to chip it when you put the water block on it. Only takes little stress in the wrong place. It would be nice if the core had an IHS on it.
Still, if it only artifacts at higher clocks, it must be something else. A chipped core should artifact at any speed, badly.

Yes I will try that flash once i get my pc back together. As for a RMA ATI said
"ATI Technologies Inc. will at its discretion repair or replace the product upon receipt with an equivalent." Because I specically asked them about the 1.6 ram and vivo. But RMA isnt something I dont plan on doing. I just might rebuild everything from scratch.

Wow, what a fast reply! Yes, after seeing it I thought thats what happened, but i can set it 540 core and 475 ram fine. Only before I was running 585 core 620 ram. No volt mod. It still puzzles me, unless a memory component has failed.

Heh, seems like "equivalent" could be open to interpetation. Equivalent to you might mean a VIVO and 1.6 RAM. To them, it might mean performance equivalent. After all, at stock clocks, a non-vivo with 2.0 ns ram and vivo card will perform "equivalently." Whatever you do, good luck. What kinds of temps are you getting on your card idle/load with the watercooling?

I would kick and scream like a baby if i didnt get it back :p As for the temps, idle is 25, load is 30. I have seen it go up to 110C before. My water block was half on. But, after re cleaning it and putting fresh AC5 on it and make sure the block was on, the OC's were back. So I thought it cam unloosend, but the only difference this time, i didnt see the temps jump. It did work fine after i fixed the block. just about a month later, after i installed cats 5.1 and ati tool 0.23 things started messing up. I uninstalled drivers and everything, this is why i want to try a fresh install now.

That's much better than mine. 30-35 idle, 35-40 load. Maybe it's the prescott I also have in the loop. :)

Yeah, for my wcing, i go Res -> Pump -> BIX2(4x120's) -> CPU -> NB -> BIX(1x120) ->GPU -> Res -> Pump

You were running your ram at 620 and it puzzles you what happened? lol Those little things get HOT at just 560...

I just used that as a Benchmark. 24/7 I ran XT PE Speeds

Newsflash: overclocking too high can kill your components.

Well I could see if i left the retail cooler on it. I have massive heatsinks with 2x120mm fans blowing over the cards. But the theory is still there.

You consistantly ran a 25% overclock on your Videocards RAM, and once ran it for at least 5 minutes with a ~38% overclock...... and you are wondering why it won't overclock anymore?

What you should be doing is wondering why it works at all.

well...the PRO is not an XT/PE..obvous it can not take the speeds of an XT/PE as to why it is a PRO...Cant expect it to run like one...

What a load of crap that is. It's capitalism that drives up the price of vid cards. Not someone RMA'ing a card. Graphics chipsets aren't even made in this country which keeps cost way down and profits way up.

I say buy another, rma this one, max the shit out of the new one until you kill it again, then rma it again!
