As of yesterday I was dead set on getting an NVidia 6800GS 256mb AGP card. Now I am kinda re-thinking it a little.

My 9800 Pro just isn't doing it for me, price wise and performance wise, what is the closest comparable ATI card to the NVidia 6800GS 256mb AGP?

If your set on getting an ATI card for sure then the X850 has come down considerably and is a good card if ATI is your only option. It is faster than a stock 6800GS and many overclocked versions. Only overclocked to the max can a 6800GS really trade blows. The X850 is supposedly going between $160-$175

Yes, but in case you notice, he only has AGP. The $160-$175 price range is only for the PCI-E cards, unfortunately.

A card equivalent to the 6800GS would be something like the X800/X850PRO. The AGP X850XT PEs are a good deal better (perform on the level of the 7800GS) but the AGP versions cost like $300... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814129048 (out of stock, but coming back on the 20th).

Thanks for the advice guys! I just bought a used (w/30 day non-DOA) Built by ATI x850pro 256mb AGP for $120 shipped

Did I get a good deal?

EDIT:: w00t I'm a Limp Gawd now, this post upgraded me

6800GS is better, X850 Pro doesnt beat out even an X800XT.

I agree with you fidel but you gotta admit he got a good deal at only $120. Now Soldur, overclock that mofo :D Check to make sure temps are stable though. I dont trust refurbished stuff.

Fidel - lol if I had the extra to spend on the 6800, I would have. Rude people crack me up. around $100 was all I could afford since I have a baby on the way. If I was single again, I'd be rolling with a couple 7900's in SLI, but I'm not.

Lord_Exodia - Thanks, you have a very valid poitn that I hadn't thought of. I'll give it hell for the first 30 days :)

I know I know, but you asked for my honest opinion.
The money you spent for an X850pro was a fair amount IMO I would have waited, regardless you should be in bliss now.
