ATI vs. Omega my test

After reading a few posts and reviews on the latest drivers I decided to do my own quick test to see which is best. So he is my quick little test to see which was best for me and matbe you.

test platform - see siggy

GFX card is set at default speed with 3D set for best performance.


3D Mark 2001 (330)

CAT 3.10 = 17,073

Cat 4.10 = 16,972 (-101)

Omega = 17,151 (+78)

AquaMark3

CAT 3.10 = 38,370

Cat 4.10 = 38,357(-13)

Omega = 38,414(+44)


Well the results say it all - I got a slight bump with the Omega drivers so I say go try them out and see for yourself. If anything you can get a few more points to brag about

Now tonight I will do a few hours of BF42 (DC) testing.

BTW - This was my first time using anything other than the ATI drivers. I hope you find this of some help.

i have used the new omega drivers and have seen some slight performance gain as well but no loss in stability in splinter cell, Bf 1942, DC, Cod, Halo, Generals, or Empires DOTMW.

Question though does your customer care warranty become invalid if you use other drivers than what ati themselves provides?

i have an aiw 9800pro and with either the cats 4.1s or omega 4.1s i have very little probs
i have vpu recovery, fastwrites off and aa and af set to where the app chooses, if i set it to any other setting i start having issues

driver choice shud not affect ur warranty in any way...also there is no way of detecting which drivers have been used...

Has anyone else tested the drivers to see how they work on their system? Don be lazy now get off your .... If we can get more people testing them we can see if there is a trend here...

actually hes telling you that your card will perform slightly better but not by much, and even if not by much it is a free boost so you might as well give it a shot

no. Omega's drivers are unofficially supported by ATI however, if that makes you feel more comfortable about them.

what omega does is tweak the registry of the official catalyst drivers to optimize them for gaming afaik.
