Im thinking of buying an X800 Pro...i have a few questions:

1. I think i remember there being 12 "unlockable" pipes in the pro and 16 in the XT...has anyone figgured out how to unlock the 4 extra pipes?

2. X800 Pro = Pixel shader 2.0 right? is there any PS 3.0 in Doom 3?

3. What would everyone reccomend, X800 Pro, equal nVidia card, or wait?

Thanks allot.

its a great card i personally believe go ahead and but it. It will perform quite well but the 6800 gt beats it in most parts...

The card of choice is currently the 6800gt. The x800pro vivo is the card where you can unlock the 4 pipes by way of bios flash, it will cost a little more though. Personally I have a x800pro and am very happy with it, but if I were to go buy a card today I would get a bfg 6800gt.

year thread title is a mating call for f4nboys everywhere. i like my 6800, the X800 is good too

There is a chance the X800PRO VIVO ($450) can be softmodded to 16 pipes via bios flash, and a chance the X800PRO can be hardmodded to 16 pipes. However neither is guaranteed.

No, but Doom3 uses 32x0, FP16pp, and Ultrashadow2, features all of which the X800 is missing.

Nvidia's 6800GT ($399) is currently the best bang for the buck. Shader Model 3.0, OpenEXR HDR Lighting via FP16 blending, 16 pipes out of the box, 32x0 mode, etc. Faster than the x800pro and more features too. In fast its even faster than the x800xtpe in doom3.

All too true...hell the 6800nu beats it in a few instances.
