well, my prob is that some think you have to be either ati or nvidia, amd or intel. im a proud owner of cpus and cards from both companies. im getting a GT for gaming and using an aiw 9800pro for my tv, vcr, editing, etc. though i agree that the 6xxx series has the upper hand this gen, when ati was on top, this same thing was happening except vice versa.

I honestly don't understand it, just a few months ago all the ATI people were bashing NV, now it's pretty much everyone saying that NV is better but the ATI people feel left out since they can't bash anyone any more. Every thread always turns into a measuring contest because of them.
I do like what 3DMark did though, that way he can just stick his head in the sand and chant "ATI's great" to his hearts content.

I still think that The subforum numbers are an interesting indicator and the forums a wealth of great info.

You have the same mentality I do. I was going to get a XT PE from Gateway for $375, but they cancelled my order, so now I'll either keep my $300 X800 Pro from Dell or wait for the 6800GTs to drop to a reasonable price.

You got one from Dell? Thats pretty cool, I'd probably would have got (or atleast tried to, lol) the VIVO one (or is that the one Dell was selling?) so that I'd have alittle insurance (and fun ) later one with it.
I hope by November/ December ATI gets out their XTPEs since that is the buying season.
Pretty soon some EVGA 6800GTs should start to show up in Circuit City too so watch out for them.

exactly, i currently own a 9800pro aiw and i also used a 5900u, and i respect both companies, i just dont like it how nvidia was bashed over their nv3x cores, which now is true with the r420. the nv3x cards ran higher clock speeds than the r3xx cards and now the r4xx cards run higher clock speeds than the nv4x and now we have deja vu. companies are gonna mess you, if anything complain to ati and nvidia, thats what i did. if people wanna pay 800 dollars for a 500 dollar retail card just cause its in low supply, or if somebody wants to buy a card that is 10-20 percent slower than the competitors than let them. i love my aiw 9800pro and i am gonna love my GT for sure when it comes in. great cards from two great companies, who are just as human as its employess.rancor said:

The 5700U should be faster than the 9600, they are not direct competitors, nor the same price/time frame.
You linked to a 6800GT review, which I said in my opinion is faster than the X800 Pro. So good job?

Actually im prolly gonna try out one of those 6800 brand cards although my 9800pro is fine for now. Gona wait and see how prices settle when there are enough cards out, in denmark we can hardly get a GT and X8pro, 68U and XPE are nowhere to be found.

Exactly, I loved the 9700 lines and its children, great cards. What turned me off of nvidia in the fx line even more was how nV tried to push it down on developers. ATi now is doing the same thing with thier x800's. I always knew they had issues with Ogl, thats what I program in lol, but it wasn't that bad because the last lines they had enough muscle to over come that.
With the 6800's out I can't support ATi, its just overall inferior to what I do and to the future of gaming compared to the the gf 6 line.
